Sharon Hicks, founder of Personal Vision, earned her MS in occupational therapy from Philadelphia
University and holds a BFA from Tyler
School of Art.
Early
in her career Sharon studied at the Barnes Foundation and
served as Assistant to the Director of Education. This experience
hooked her on the concepts of "learning to see"
and "seeing to learn."
For
more than twenty-five years she has expressed her artistic
vision through painting and exhibiting her work. As a former
faculty member of Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, she
integrated meditation and holistic philosophy into drawing
and painting classes.
Since
1994 Sharon has worked with five different optometrists. She
draws on this experience, the Bates
Method and her art and yoga background to provide a visual
educational approach which empowers participants to explore
their vision what they see through their eyes, corresponding
emotions and mind-body perceptions; to learn to use their
eyes naturally and effectively.
Sharon's
certificates include color light therapy, yoga teacher, yoga
for the special child, movement for self-healing, Thai-yoga
bodywork and Reiki.
Her
recent work as an occupational therapist has focused on neurological
rehab in adults and developmental delays in children. Her
specialities include visual rehab for brain injury, yoga for
Parkinson's and sensory integration for children.
Sharon's
multi-disciplined approach continually evolves and successfully
supports the vast capacities of the multi-dimensional person.
She
is a professional member of the American Occupational Therapy
Association, the Association
of Vision Educators, and the College
of Syntonic Optometry. Her articles on the topic of vision
have been published in Yoga Living and New Visions
magazines.
